Meet Dr. Lisa

Dr. Lisa J. Curry was born and raised in Gales Ferry Connecticut. She has always had a creative side with interests in art, music, and literature. As a child, she used to write and illustrate comic and picture books. At twelve years old, she knew she wanted to become a dentist. She is a graduate of Hampton University. Dr. Curry fulfilled her career goal by graduating from the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Curry is married to her husband, Clarence and has two daughters.

Dr. Curry’s love for books began with titles such as Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats and Corduroy by Don Freeman. However, parenthood really inspired her to get serious about writing. Her goal is to help children of color find positive books, with characters that look like them. Her motto is “reading is the best way to grow your imagination and travel for free.”
